Today I wanted to try a different style of blogging. kinda like an all-day thing. To share what i learned and or notes of my Islamic studies. Let us see if it can be beneficial.
Quran
(Starting at page 6, Sura 2:7)
- Allah has set a seal on their hearts and their hearing (they are closed from accepting Allah's guidance) and on their eyes there is a covering and Theirs will be a torment.
subhanAllah we ask Allah to protect us from this and guide us always amen,
let us see what the tasfir says.
Tasfir (ibn Kathir )
at the start of the ayat its says (khatama allah) which means Allah sealed . Qatadah said: that this ayah means, shaytan controlled them when they obeyed him. therefore, Allah sealed their hearts, hearing and sight , and they could neither see the guidance nor hear, comprehend or understand. Ibn Jurayj said that mujahid said :
{ Allah has set a seal on their hearts } A stamp. it occurs when sin resides in the heart and the hearing. In addition, Ibn Jurayj said: that Abdullah bin Kathir narrated: that Mujahid said: the stain is not as bad as the stamp, the stamp is not as bad as the lock which is the worst type. Al-Amash said: Mujahid demonstrated with his hand while saying, they used to say the servant commits a sin, a part of the heart will be rolled up and he rolled up his index finger,. when the servant commits another sin, a part of the hearts will roll up, and he rolled up another finger, until he rolled up all of his fingers. Then he said: The, the heart will be sealed (may Allah protect us and help us amen) Mujahid also said that this is the description of the ran ( 83:14Nay But on their hearts is the Ran, covering of sins and evil deeds which they used to earn. Tasfir : of this ayat ~ Narrated by Abu Hurairah: Allah's Messenger said: when a salve ( a person) commits a sin ( evil deed) a black dot is dotted on his heart. then if that person gives up that evil deed, begs Allah to forgive him, and repents then his heart is cleared from that heart covering dot. but if he repeats the evil deed then that covering is increased till his heart is completely covered with it, and that is Ar- Ran which Allah mentioned in the Quran. {At- tirmidhi , an-nasai and ibn majah recored this hadith and at-tirmidhi said it was hasan sahih, }
Al qurtubi said: the Ummah has agreed that Allah has described Himself with sealing and closing the hearts of the disbelievers, as a punishment for their disbelief. Similarly, Allah said:
(4:155 Nay Allah has set a seal upon their hearts because of their disbelief )
~Oh you who change the hearts, make our hearts firm on your religion amen~
He also mentioned the hadith by Hudayfah recorded in sahih in which the messnger of Allah said :
The Fitnah (trials and tests) are offered to the hearts, just as the straws that are sewn into the woven mat, one after another. Any heart that accepts the fitnah, then a black dot will be engraved on it , Any heart that rejects the fitnah, then a white dot will be engraved on it. The hearts will therefore become two categories. white, just like the barren rock, no fitnah shall ever harm this category as. long as the heavens and earth will still exist. another category is black, just as the cup that is turned upside down, for this heart does not recognize righteousness or renounce evil
The meaning of Ghishawah
reciting the ayah : Allah has set a seal on their hearts and on their hearing then pausing, then continuing with and their eyes there is a Ghishawah (covering) is accurate, for the stamp is placed on the heart and the hearing while the Gishawah , the covering, is appropriately placed on the eye. in his tafsir, As-Suddi said: that Ibn abbas and ibn masud said: about Allahs statement
{Allah has set a seal on their hearts and on their hearing }
so that they neither understand nor hear. Allah also said that He placed a covering on their sight, meaning eyes and so, they do not see.
The Hypocrites
We mentioned that four ayat at the beginning of surat Al-Bawarah described the believers. The two last ayat {2:6-7} describe the disbelievers. afterward, Allah begins to describe the hypocrites who show belief but hide disbelief. Since the matter of the hypocrites is vague and many people do not realize their true reality, Allah mentioned their description in detail. Each of the characteristics that `Allah used to describe them with is a type of hypocrisy itself. Allah revealed sura Bara'ah ( chapter 9) and surat al munafiqun (chapter 63) about the hypocrites. He also mentioned the hypocrites in surat an nur (24) and other surahs, so that their description would be nur (24) and other surahs so that their description would be known and their ways and errors could be avoided.
1. An-Nifaaq al-I’tiqaadee (Hypocrisy in Belief)
This is Major Disbelief and the outright hypocrite is worse than an outright unbeliever, who makes apparent that he is not a Muslim. That is because it is known about the outright disbeliever that he is a disbeliever and that he has enmity – however, the hypocrite deceives the Muslims. He makes manifest that he is from the Muslims whereas in reality, he is an enemy to them. He makes apparent that he is a Muslim, whereas [inwardly] he is a disbeliever.
2. The Second category is an-Nifaaq al-‘Amalee (Hypocrisy in Deeds)
This is where a person is a believer both outwardly and inwardly, however, there emanates from him some of the traits of the hypocrites that reduce his Eemaan and he is threatened with severe punishment, but he does not exit the Religion. So this is termed as an-Nifaaq al-‘Amalee or as an-Nifaaq al-Asghar.
Abu Hurairah (May Allah be pleased with him) reported:
Messenger of Allah (ﷺ) said, "There are three signs of a hypocrite: When he speaks, he lies; when he makes a promise, he breaks it; and when he is trusted, he betrays his trust."
[Al-Bukhari and Muslim].
Another narration adds the words: 'Even if he observes fasts, performs Salat and asserts that he is a Muslim".
Hadiths of the day
- Narrated by Abu Hurairah said: Allahs messenger said : There will be fitan in the near future during which a sitting person will be better than a standing one, and the standing one will be better than the walking one, and the running one, and whoever will expose himself to these fitan they will destroy him. so whoever can find a place of protection or refuge from them, should take shelter in it.
- 7084: Narrated Hudhaifa bin Al-Yaman: The people used to ask Allahs messenger about the good but I used to ask him about the evil, Least I should be overtaken by it. So I said "Oh Allahs messenger!" We are living in ignorance and in an (extremely) worst atmosphere. then Allah brought to us this good (islam) will thre be any evil after this good? He said, Yes, but it will be tainted (not pure) I asked, what will be it taint? He replied, (there will be) some people who will guide others not according to my (legal way of ) guidance. You will approve of some of their deeds and disapprove of some others, I asked, will there be any evil after that good? He replied yes, (there will be) some people calling at the gates of the (hell) fire and whoever will respond to their call, will be thrown by them into the fire. I said o Allahs messenger! will you describe them to us?
He said, They will be from our own people and will speak our language. I said what do you order me to do if such a state should take place in my life? he said, Stick to the group of Muslims and their Imam, I said if there is neither group of Muslims nor an imam? he said, then turn away from all those sects even if you were to bite (eat ) the roots of a tree till death overtakes you while you are in that state. SubhanAllah, grant us sabar , and help us if we end up in these times dont let us let go of the rope amen
- 7088: Narrated Abu said Al Khudri Allahs messenger said there will come a time when the best property of a Muslim will be sheep which will take to the tops of mountains and the places of rainfall so as to flee with his religion from al fitan .
7089: Narrated by anas: the people started asking the Prophet too many questions importunately. So he ascended the pulpit and said, you will not ask me any question but i will answer it to you. I looked right and left and behold, every man was covering his head with his garment and weeping. Then a man got up who, whenever quarreling with somebody, used to be accused of not being the son of his father. He said " oh Allahs messenger! who is my father? the Prophet replied your father is hudhaifa then umar got up and said we accept Allah as our Lord, Islam as our religion, and muhammad as our messenger. we seek refuge with Allah from the evil of al-fitan .. The Prophet said: I have never seen the good and bad like on this day. No doubt, paradise, and hell were displed in front of me till i saw them in front of that wall.
Qatada said: This Hadith used to be mentioned as an explanation of this verse: O you who believe! Ask not about things which, if made plain to you may cause you trouble.
I ask Allah to protect and guide us, protect us from evil characteristics, protect us from fitnah , protect us from the evil that is standing before us. May he help us to find our cave to protect us from the fitnah. may Allah continue to increase our ilm, help us to implement our ilm,. and keep us on the straightway! amen
